Copyright Notes

1
        i.            Richard Prince ordered to stop work on his new gallery due to its determined breach of copyright.
ii.            Prince took a French photographist called Patrick Cariou’s work and reworked it, by adding in new designs on top.
iii.            Prince’s work often uses pictures not taken by him, but he has not been stopped before.
iv.            I think it depends on how famous the photographer’s images are and how much you have changed them.

2
        i.            George Burgess suggests that copyright of  his apps is not such a big deal.
ii.            Only 10% of iphones are jailbroken... only 10% can download the pirate.
iii.            Each pirated copy that is downloaded increases his sales as it raises others awareness.
iv.            In app purchases could make it harder for copyright as education apps still make profit and work is more protected.

3.
        i.            Meg Pickard Comments on online copyright.
ii.            Her poem was put online soon after originally written.
iii.            Another person then copied the poem into her blog and passed it off as her own.
iv.            The person who breached copyright gave a meaning to the poem and tried to show how personal it was to them.
      v.            Meg Pickard says that online copyright can be traced and at the end states that google knows all... saying that anyone can see what you do online.

5
        i.            Flickr
ii.            You can only copyright images you own.
iii.            Prince did not use his own images and the ones he used had copyright over them.
iv.            Flickr set up a privacy setting which allowed you to determine who can see your photos. This stops people downloading and copying your photos.
